The Era

... or what was it actually like in those days?

Anyone, who designed and built such an automobile at the beginning of the 60’s was certainly convinced of a future booming economy. Whoever bought it, was certainly convinced of it too. Both parties were right. In 1959 Mercedes began with the production of the W 111 series (tail fin model), which replaced the successful pontoon series. As from 1961, Mercedes, as part of this series, developed coupe and convertible versions. These versions differed stylistically from the sedans by flatter body structures and rounding of the tail fins. The new style became clearly visible: bigger, more luxurious, and more representative. The selling price was almost double that of the sedan because of the manual bodywork. It was the last Mercedes car series with so much manual work.

The Condition

... or how it really is. Original, given a facelift or fully restored?

The vehicle was brought back to Europe after a long period of use in the US. It is currently being restored. It is a very elaborately restored automobile. During the restoration special emphasis was placed on the original specifications (color, interior equipment, hood) of the manufacturer. The result is a vehicle, which resembles a new car character. Due to the special restoration services, this vehicle stands out clearly from the normal old-timer market as well as from the other classic cars with condition mark 1. The work carried out is extensively documented and the sale is covered by a one-year full warranty. We have already requested the MB data card and an individual value certificate.

The Performance

... or what is it like to drive?

Since the vehicle is technically in excellent condition, it can easily be used immediately for longer and shorter trips. The comfort features in this class set new standards and turned travel and exits into a great pleasure. You can enjoy this feeling still today. It is a facility that provides pure pleasure and opportunities to increase value. Only 2,729 pieces of this model were built.
