...or what was it actually like in those days?

The sensational Ponton series was the first truly new design after the war. With self-supporting bodywork and new safety features such as crumple zones and a safety steering column, it was a milestone in automotive engineering. In 1954, the new 200-series followed as the flagship model, built on a lengthened undercarriage. As part of the company strategy, in 1956 elegant coupé/convertible versions were introduced in addition to the limousine. This exclusive series was handcrafted and displays high quality workmanship. From 1958, as part a final expansion phase, there was a 2.2 litre engine in the SE, with prestigious fuel injection. At 23,400 Deutschmarks, these SE coupés and convertibles cost considerably more than the 14,400 Deutschmark price of the SE limousine. Of the SE Coupe only 830 examples were built, very few with a sliding roof!

...or how it really is. Original, given a facelift or fully restored?

The vehicle is newly fully restored and is impressive with its colour combination of Red / Beige exterior and beige leather interior featuring beautiful woodwork. Since restoration the vehicle has not been driven!

...or what is it like to drive?

As the vehicle was in the elite class during the fifties, it can still be easily used today for comfortable traveling and ambling. The spoils of a shopping spree are accommodated, just as easily as copious amounts of luggage, in the spacious boot. Due to the large-scale production technology used, the coupé is reliable and easy to maintain. On trips and at events it draws everyone's attention. A dream car, in such condition that its owner can expect decades-long driving enjoyment. Particularly attractive as an investment because, in this finish, only a handful of vehicles still exist.
