“Classic Days” Schloss Dyck

Review

Once a year, on the first weekend of August, one of the greatest moated castles of the Rhineland together with its paradisiac gardens and surrounding lands turns into Eldorado for fans of automobile classic.

Participants, exhibitors, and visitors from the entire republic and neighboring countries make a pilgrimage to the rurally estate on the Lower Rhine to plunge back into the past for one weekend, to let themselves gladly be carried away by the race action on the circuit, and – motivated by a passion for collecting or rather by a plain investment intention – to get an overview of the current market.

Participants as well as guests showed up in the style of the twenties up to the fifties. There was a bit of everything: petticoats, knickerbockers, paddy caps. This created a nostalgic atmosphere and shaped the spirit of the “Classic Days.”

Racing legends such as Walter Röhrl and Jochen Mass were not only actively on the route, they also talked to the guests and empathically answered questions of the enthusiastic guests.

One of the highlights of the “Classic Days” was the autograph session of the former head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport and television commentator, Norbert Haug, at our exhibition stand. He agreed to answer the questions of numerous fans with pleasure based on the long-time connection to Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors.

Arthur Bechtel Classic Motors’ lounge was situated in the “Cherry Lane” with a direct view to the circuit. This was a strategically favorable position to present the 4 Mercedes-Benz classic vehicles. The selection included a Pagode 230 SL, an elegant 190 SL, a 170 Cabriolet A, and a 220 A Cabriolet. Visitors and invited guests were truly impressed by the vehicles’ perfection and their excellent conditions.

The team from Böblingen was proud to open the bonnets as well as the boots to demonstrate the perfect condition of bodywork and technic to the highly interested and likewise well-informed guests.

While enjoying coffee and cold beverages, people were talking shop sitting in the cozy lounge furniture and some invitations to Böblingen were being discussed.

The conclusions of the “Classic Days Schloss Dyck 2017”: it was an entirely successful and well-organized event at the highest level with a sympathetic audience that was highly interested in the vehicles, and well-informed as well.
